American Reformation Church Prayer Journal 66
ARC Prayer Meeting:
Last week at the American Reformation Church, we celebrated the mothers of ARC on Mother’s Day. Brother Jason Storms delivered a thought provoking, inspiring message on the struggles and rewards of motherhood.
Yes, there are demonic entities that hate motherhood and seek its destruction. There is a culture that demeans motherhood, but most women in this generation reject it because it is hard, sacrificial, and challenging. We have a Burger King complex to contend with in this generation, which is to have life “Our Way, We Rule.”
Fulfilling Titus 2:3-5, which states, “the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed” is not appealing to most women, even in the church.
If we couple that with irresponsible and passive manhood that rejects the duties and responsibilities of a husband and father, we can discover why the God-ordained family is in such shambles in this generation. The family, we must remember, is the building block of a healthy nation, a sound society, and a flourishing culture. As goes the family, so goes the church, and as goes the church, so goes the nation.
Mothers, who act like glue that holds our families together, are highly prized in heaven, though devalued on the earth. This is why the prayers of a determined mama bear for her cubs are legendary. Throughout Scripture we read of godly mothers who prayed with loving concern for their families. Women interceded for their husbands and children. They prayed for their needs and sought divine intervention on their behalf.
These maternal prayers were often rooted in a deep love and concern for their family's well-being. They trusted in God's plan and with unwavering faith. They trusted God for the souls of their loved ones. Mothers, who sought God's guidance, protection, and salvation of their families, hoped to see their families grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ to fulfill their purpose in His Kingdom.
As the Hebrew writer stated, “Time would fail” to recount all the godly mothers and their inspired prayers for their offspring. Hannah prayed for Samuel, who became a mighty prophet in Israel. Mary rejoiced in prayer for Jesus. Elizabeth prayed for her son, John, and thanked God for His favor by removing her reproach of barrenness. On and on, throughout the Bible and redemptive history we read of the faithfulness of godly mothers. These women were teachers of good things and mighty prayer warriors that left an indelible mark upon the Kingdom of Christ in our poor fallen world. Let’s continue to honor them and follow their example of faithful intercession.
