A Time to Die
The wisdom of Ecclesiastes.
“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
Human life is comparable to seasons, the spring of birth, the summer of youth, the fall of middle age, and the winter of the elderly.
One of those times and seasons, is the time to die.
There have been a rash of celebrity deaths as of late.
Chief among them are Pastor John MacArthur, the prince of darkness, Ozzy Osbourne, and wrestling icon, Hulk Hogan.
The death of loved ones and celebrities should give us all pause to consider our own mortality.
“And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).
Death has been exploited by Satan to torment the minds of men and put them in fear.
Yet, in the midst of that dilemma, God’s Word boasts, “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory” (1 Corinthians 15:55).
Pay attention to this glorious promise from Jesus, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life” (John 5:24).
Born once, die twice. Born twice, die once.
Repent and believe the Gospel. The Kingdom of God is at hand.
