A World Without Christmas Part 3
This episode starts with the controversy surrounding Kirk Cameron’s view of hell.
Next, we deal with the attack in Australia as the Religion of Peace strikes again.
Third, we explore the third part of a series called “A World Whiteout Christmas’ or in the case of Narnia “Always Winter, and never Christmas.”
In D James Kennedy's book “What if Jesus had never been born,” he asks believers and non-believers alike to consider the impact of a Christ less world.
The first 3 chapters dealt with our Lord’s impact when it came to the value of human dignity.
Chapters 4-6 dealt with our Lord’s impact on education, government, and freedom.
For today’s message, we will discover our Lord’s impact upon science, enterprise, and human sexuality.
Science mean to know, have knowledge, or state of knowing. It can also mean to separate one thing from another, to distinguish.
Adam was the first scientist as he named all the animal and brought distinctions amongst the different species in the animal kingdom.
In fulfillment of the Dominion Mandate, God’s people believed in an orderly, rational, uniformed, creation. This gave rise to scientific inquiry.
Several departments of science were founded by Christians.
Christian Scientists believed they were “thinking God’s thoughts after Him.”
Kennedy points out that pagan cultures did not have a proper worldview to promote the study of science. They often saw nature as chaotic or ruled by capricious gods.
The next realm covered by Kennedy is Christ’s impact upon enterprise.
Christianity dignified honest labor and enterprise by discouraging sloth and laziness.
The Protestant work ethic based upon the Dominion Mandate fueled economic growth and lifted societies out of poverty.
Christians established principles of stewardship, honesty, and service that shaped modern commerce.
Christians sought to practice honesty and be just in their dealings. They knew God hated partiality and forbade unjust weights and measurements. Thou shall not steal and thou shall not covet guided their economic affairs.
All these truths challenged believers to practice integrity and generosity in their work, which helped to transform civilizations.
Chapter 9 deals with human sexuality.
Christianity elevated sexuality from immoral exploitation to a sacred covenant.
In the Greco-Roman world, before Christ was born, sexual immorality was rampant; Christianity introduced the virtues of chastity, fidelity, and the sanctity of marriage to a greater degree.
The impact upon people’s mental, physical and spiritual health improved dramatically.
It was Christians that condemned the ancient practices of prostitution, homosexuality, and treated women as equal image bearers of Christ. This diminished the consequences of sexual immorality, which included the practice of infanticide.
In conclusion: Without Christ, science lacks a firm foundation, enterprise lacks ethics, and sexuality lacks sanctity. Without Christmas, Bedford Falls becomes Pottersville and Narnia remains in a state of “Always winter and never Christmas.” Thankfully our Savior was born and thus our message remains the same, “Let earth receive her King!”
